"BIOLOGY 101"

Synopsis
THE GANG REUNITES AFTER SUMMER BREAK WONDERING IF PIERCE WILL BE BACK AT SCHOOL - DEAN PELTON RETURNS FROM "DEAN CAMP" WITH VIGOR - JOHN GOODMAN AND MICHAEL K. WILLIAMS GUEST STAR

As the Greendale study group gathers in the library, they wonder whether they will see their old friend Pierce (Chevy Chase), who left the study group in a huff after last spring's paintball game. Jeff (Joel McHale) quickly butts heads with their new biology teacher Professor Kane (Michael K. Williams, "The Wire,") and is kicked out of class - leading to a crisis within the group about whether they will all stay together. Dean Pelton (Jim Rash) is feeling empowered after a summer at "Dean Camp" but finds a new nemesis in Vice Dean Laybourne (John Goodman), dean of the highly regarded Air Conditioning Repair Annex at Greendale. Gillian Jacobs, Alison Brie, Yvette Nicole Brown, Danny Pudi, Donald Glover and Ken Jeong also star.

Pretty good, felt really fast and 80% setup for the rest of the season. Nice to see Pierce acting less jerky.

I love that when you watch the season three promo. Most of the clips came from this episode. You'd think how could a musical number, an axe wielding white powdered Jeff, Abed screaming at his computer, a new dean possibly from the same episode. Only on Community.

Loved the episode, great balance of the season one type story with the larger episodes of season two. Eg. the story of Jeff/Pierce with the duct monkey gas.

The rating is damn disappointing, but even when I think of the worst possible scenario of cancelation, we'll still get 74, 75 episodes? Not to anti-complain, we certainly have a lot to be pissed about, but that many episodes is pretty awesome.

I won't be happy with anything less than 20 seasons.

6 seasons and a movie! 3.93 mil viewers... Still an increase from S2 finale.

I'll be happy as long as Jeff graduates.

Also: Whitney is tanking in reviews, almost globally negative. Parks & Rec had a slightly better rating, but given Community's huge online fandom, I'd say it has better chances of surviving. NBC is also known for renewing fan favourites.

NBC will focus on its other failures before it focuses on Community. It has several other shows that are also underperforming in their time slots, some of them brand new. Community isn't first on the chopping block in the slightest.

I'm glad to hear others enthusiasm. It's one episode, not the end of the world. Everybody at the AV club is freaking out, they had me going for a bit too.

I was a little skeptical about Britta's psych major at first. But this will be the golden ticket to explore her die hard silverlake persona, and to reveal it's just a persona. They touched it a little on the hottie spill and during the silent protest that she doesn't like others touching "her territory" of social activism.

At the very least she can finally stop with the "awareness raising" aspect of activism and actually help the people around her.
