This has to be the best comment I've seen on any review/recap. Really well written and adds a lot to the discussion. You are right, I should have touched more on Abed. The only reason I left it out is I felt I had said a bit about it in my review of "Virtual Systems Analysis", and didn't want to get redundant (which I tend to do sometimes in reviews of the same show. A habit I'm working on). In a lot of ways, this was a continuation of that story (or the conclusion at least to this chapter of that story).

But you are right, it was a very important moment for Abed. He's having to accept that he can't have everything. I also think it touched on the fact that Abed realizes that while Troy and him will always be friends, he has to also learn to share him with others (and this was reflected in the montage with Britta and Troy standing side by side, and Abed taking down the Dreamatorium). His acceptance of her as his psychiatrist was also a big move in this regard. In "Virtual Systems Analysis" his struggle came in his worry of losing Troy to Britta - and he was frustrated with Annie for upsetting the balance. So this basically concluded that chapter, with Abed being more open to sharing his relationship with Troy with others. I would even say Abed is learning that he can lean on people beyond Troy. But of course they also show Abed having his own make shift Dreamatorium. So I don't want to say it 100% is an end to this story, but it did conclude (for now) Abed's arc in Season three.

It will be interesting to see how they handle the Britta Troy relationship next season. Yeah, Jeff and Britta were hooking up behind the scenes in past seasons. And they even had their moments of sexual tension and flirtation. But they weren't dating. We've never really dealt with an actual relationship within the group **. So I'll be curious to see how those two dating will change the dynamic of the group. Annie moving in with Troy and Abed certainly had an impact on that dynamic, and that is apart of the whole evolution of these characters. They are friends, but their relationships are going to be changing. That's really what Abed's arc represented above all else, and it was a really great way to end with that in the finale.

** I mean, a relationship where two people from the group are dating within the group. Obviously we've dealt with Slater and tiny nipples Vaughn.

I would like to add something to your review. I feel obliged to say that the last episode also needed an Abed sub plot review. In my opinion, the use of Abed's dark timeline in Introduction to finality would be great if Evil Abed has more consistent plot throughout the series. Similar with the Air conditioning repair subplot, how it would be much better if somethings are better explained. Personally a forty minute Community episode for next season would be really great but I understand the economical reasons and circumstances of the show of how it is unlikely, but it would done a lot better job in fitting the story flow, rather then by suddenly stated the sudden changes that occur during the show. Especially since season 3 of this show, it is very condensed in it's theme, plots and all its references

Back to Abed's subplot of "Evil Abed". Abed as the episode portrayed, having a mental breakdown over the leaving of his "Brother" and best friend Troy. Abed's concerns about the darkest timeline really carries the theme of the season and the show since season two. How the dark side of our reality is always around the corner. Connecting back to "Paradigm of time lord" episode. Evil Abed's build up of the darkest time line wishing to destroy's the fabric of the best time line was synced up and concised neatly in the "introduction to finality". But what my main concern was the missing connecting points in relation to the Evil Abed's character that the show missed capturing due to its time limit.

Abed as a character are very computer-like or as Pierce said, "Rain man" which really gives the clarity to the state of the group. Being able to oversee seven different timeline as an audience really explains the vanity nature of this study group. Hence we see a little bit of what the world feels like to see the clarity that Abed has. The episode "virtual dream analysis" undergone significant changes in his way of thinking. Recreating thousands of accurate traits of the study group and a half accurate Chang was brilliant. Not only we enter Abed's mind but the vulnerability Abed seems never to portray. Its an interesting character plot with Annie and Abed too, would love to see more of them in the future. But Abed's empathy wasn't well portrayed, rather the later episodes portrays his relapse to his old like with being "Rain man" instead of a subplot development about Abed's growing empathy which would explain a lot more and better story flow with the essential strength in Abed's fight against his nemesis.

Remember episode thirteen where at the end Abed met the Evil Abed in his ship? If there were more development within that, the Abed's sudden quirkiness since the hiatus would be more clarified, especially after the "celebrity pharmacology" episode in his sudden change of thoughts and friendship nature. The look alike episode seemingly being used to comfort Abed's ever increasing fragile reality over his worries and concerns about "the other side". Either the scene where Abed meets Evil Abed was suppose to carry the theme for the rest of the season or Abed's character expulsion is the question I'm struggling or both. I would personally love to see Abed utilising more of his evil senses to answer some of the strange things that happened to the school, offering its alternative timeline "awareness" in relation to the shaping up of the season. The use of "Doctor Who" spoof was also the highlight of Abed's personal development contributing to his gradual changes within the group, offering some logical conclusions and moral in human condition. Sincerity of Abed, the complexity of "The Doctor/Inspector Space time" and his "moral relativism" portrayal in community and the use of Immortal Nemesis should've bring the best of Abed this season but failed to do so.

Otherwise, Abed is still great for what he does in the episode. Its a shame how we can't all get everything in life. Everyone else in this season was also great and especially Jeff's change. That would be comparable but slightly more than Abed's change. What a crazy season. Definitely not for new watchers, but brings the best and the worst of each character

Now I'm happy :)
